Math: Addition and Subtraction of Positive and Negative Numbers

Normally when you see this:

And your most immediate solution is that you'll just switch the numbers around and think that the publishing company got wrong at their printing and of course, you're very thrilled because you found an error in your math book. But then.... you got it WRONG!
And this is where positive and negative numbers come in!!!

On the left side below the zero, we have the negative numbers with their minus signs.
Oh deary me, they're feeling quite moody today. Hopefully, they cooperate with the demonstrations. And on the right side above the zero, we have the positive numbers with their plus signs who are, of course, feeling really happy today.

Wow, they seem so happy to help. And now we just need a bunch of sums, why not start with the one on top?

Now, all we need to do is the same thing with 3 - 2, which comes to 1. However, since the smaller number has by far the advantage of the bigger number we come to a negative 1.

This goes the same with addition.

And that's as simple as pi! It's so simple that in fact I feel like a toddler learning their numbers instead of a seventh-grade 13 year old.
Well, our numbers will have to say goodbye too.

(The positive numbers, as we can see, really aren't eager to leave because they like you so much. While the negative numbers are immensely delighted to rush off to do what's always kept them so busy.. Doing nothing)

Bye!
