Character: Gratitude, with my poem "Gratitude is an Attitude"

Gratefulness vs. Murmuring

"Gratefulness is expressing sincere appreciation to God and to others for the ways they have benefited my life."

Ungratitude was the reason why Adam and Eve sinned at Creation. They disobeyed God because they weren't content with what they had been given.

Definition:

We are actually destined to be destroyed eternally in hell. But then,

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

"The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.

Lamentations 3:22 - 24

So we must always be aware that mercy, new because of God's amazing grace, should always make us grateful and humble. Before being holy and just, we are like a weary traveler was given water and rest: God. The word "Eucharistos" goes in line with this attitude, it means, "mindful of favours, grateful."

Importance:

  • It is a foundation of a Believer's journey with God.
  • It is God's will. (Thessalonians 5:18)
  • It is to pass the test of the Holy Spirit and have the power of true love, joy, and peace.

Reasons to be grateful:
  1. Because Jesus's death on the cross
  2. Because everything is of God and made by God. (Romans 8:28, James 1:17)
  3. Because we can produce Godly character. (James 1: 2-4)
  4. Because a right response will show true love. (Romans 5:3-5)
  5. Because every circumstance tends to bring us closer to God. (Psalm 77:2, 9:15)

When should we be grateful:
  1. When we are reminded of his name.
  2. When we are reminded of his holiness.
  3. When we worship at night (or midnight).
  4. When we are with other believers.
  5. When we are surrounded by evil.
  6. When our faith is put to the test.
  7. When in need of a miracle.
  8. When we eat.
  9. When we see growth in other believers.
  10. When reminded of other believers in prayer.

And how we show gratefulness:
  1. By giving thanks to others for what they have done, or their qualities. (Encourage them too!)
  2. By writing to them. (Another way of expressing)
  3. By public recognition. (Mention them when you speak.)
  4. By giving them gifts.
  5. By spending time with them.
  6. By praying for them.

A quote on Gratefulness:
"Think not on what you lack as much as on what you have."

- Greek  Proverb

A verse on Gratefulness:

"My son, wait then, only upon God; for my expectations is from him."

-  Psalms 62:5

My poem on Gratefulness:

Gratitude is an Attitude

Gratitude is an Attitude
that honors and glorifies God
even in the flood
of trials.

We can thank him for the
food on the table
and be able to eat
the pile of
spinach.

Instead of anxiety
we can thank God for our family
like the hard work Mommy and Daddy
does for us.

Gratefulness is being gracious
in our speech as
you talk to your friends
and your family.

And sometimes there's
not enough money
for what you always want
(just imagine it and
you will see
how much much better
things will be).

So remember
that whenever
you're weary of doing good
God's smiling down on you

So continues
the Attitude
of Gratitude.

Thank you and God bless!!
